The photovoltaic system converts solar radiation by a set of solar panels into DC current.
If the PV-system contains an energy storage in the form of a batteries set, energy is stored in them. More often, however, the DC current from the PV panels is converted into AC current by the inverter.
The AC current can be used immediately in the house receivers, and its surpluses transferred to the power grid.
The rules for compensating for electricity supplied to and downloaded from the power grid are determined in separate rules.
